Our trip to Arkansas

Mom & Dad came out for a visit (& so Dad could do some training in Nashville) so the kids & I went on vacation with them to Arkansas.

On our way we stopped at Casey Jones Village for some lunch.

My, what a big head you have!

We crossed the Mississippi river into Arkansas.

The next day we explored where we were staying & found some swings...the kids favorite!

We got to play some put-put & Poompa showed Adrienne how to play.

While there in Arkansas we went to the birthplace of Walmart. There was a very interesting museum showing the history of Sam & his stores.

Here's Adrienne with Sam's truck, but she was more interested in the stuffed hunting dog in the back.

We also went to the Daisy museum.

A whole lot of BB's!

She couldn't resist. She had to touch the leg.

Adrienne trying on some hats in an antique shop.

We went to the family burial plot in Arkansas with Aunt Gloria who drove over from Oklahoma to show us.

The kids hanging out with some family.

We had a pool at the condo where we were staying. Here's Adrienne showing off her best water ballet moves.

Grandma and Eli splashing each other.

Mom with Bernitta and James at their house. While we were there James had to go out & gather up the hay. James has found many arrowheads out in his fields & while we were there Eli found a partial one. Eli was so excited that James gave both kids some more arrowheads that he had. It was one of the highlights of the trip.

Eli showing us how high he can jump from the side of James & Bernitta's pool. Check out that form!

Adrienne going for a drive with Cousin James.

Eli's turn.

One evening we went for a pontoon boat ride around a lake.

Our driver said anyone wearing a life jacket got to drive the boat. (Of course only 13 & were wearing life jackets.) Eli took the job very seriously.

Mom & Dad on the cruise.

Adrienne with her turn at the wheel.

There was an amazing chapel in the little town we were in.

This is the view from the front of the chapel.

There's no such thing as a vacation from crafts so the kids made some birdhouses while we were in Arkansas.

Of course Adrienne's had to be pink & purple. :)

The condos had an ice cream & water relay day.

Needless to say the kids enjoyed the ice cream very much!

They even participated in the relay races even though they were hesitant at first.

Yea! They won prizes.

This was in the Rogers Town Museum. I thought it was just a funny sign.

The kids driving the train....

...and waving at the real (& really noisy) train as it went by.

The next day we went to Oklahoma to visit with Aunt Gloria & the rest of the family there. We got to go with her to the chiropractor's office where they threw her a surprise birthday party.

Aunt Gloria with Mom.

When you see a cow you gotta take a photo right?

The family gathering on Aunt Gloria's front porch.

Some cousins - I don't know how many times removed - hanging out & having fun.

Adrienne with James.

Mom with cousin Bob.

Group shot with Aunt Gloria.

Aunt Gloria was a quilter & this was her machine quilting frame. It was huge & the whole thing could move back & forth to sew the designs onto the quilts. My husband & I were the recipient of one of her quilts when we got married so it was neat to see where it was made.

The kids in the backseat with all their toys & snacks preparing for the trip back home.
Of course, because we were only five miles from the border we had to swing up to Missouri before we headed home, just to say we did.

Over the river & through the woods to our house Grandma & Poompa go!

Grandma and Poompa came out for a visit and an early Christmas. We did a bit of sightseeing too.

We went to the Battle of Franklin to see what Dr. Dobson had been speaking about on Focus on the family. We also checked out the Carter House & met the David Fraley the historian and curator of the Carter House. You can check it out here:

Adrienne decided to wear her reindeer antlers everywhere we went that day. She was a cute reindeer!

Grandma with the kids.
Grandma took Adrienne to go and see Miss Pattycake's Christmas. Miss Pattycake is geared for preschoolers so they had a blast and got to sit right up front!
For your listening pleasure! :P

We all got to open some early Christmas presents and even got to play with them! Notice the warm and fuzzy Pj's. :)
